Like our unique interisciplinary curriculum,our approach to what we want to see in a portfolio is istinctive as well. There is no one “right way” to construct a portfolio—you choose what to present to give us an unerstaning of your technical an conceptual skill set.
- Show us 10–15 of your best an most recent works.
- Use your portfolio to showcase your interests,skills,an creative potential.
- You may show us work create across meia or focus entirely in one meium.
- Work can range from observational to abstract.
- We have no meia-specific limitations nor o we present portfolio assignments.

- Each igital image file can be save as a .jpg,.gif.,or .png,an must be at least 72 pi.
- Film,vieo,an animation an/or soun portfolios may not excee five minutes. You can inclue multiple clips of ifferent projects within this five-minute limit.
- Original work portfolio—Actual work shoul be brought with you only when you are interviewing in person at the SAIC Amissions office,or National Portfolio Days. Do not mail portfolios of original work to the Amissions office.
- Do NOT uploa PowerPoint presentations of your work.

We are intereste in fining out more about you,your art-making practices,an why you are a strong caniate for the School of the Art Institute of Chicago’s (SAIC) unergrauate program. Please also inclue information about community service projects,exhibitions you have participate in,or any other activities that contribute to the making of your work.

Share why you are intereste in an utilize certain materials,exhibitions in which you have participate,or other activities that contribute to the making of your work. If you are applying to the BFA with an Emphasis in Writing,your statement nees also to aress how you imagine a stuio arts environment will impact your writing practice.
Pay attention to the way you construct your essay—watch grammar an spelling. Don’t start with,“I have known I wante to be an artist since I first picke up a crayon…” There are no wor count limitations—though we recommen a 250–500 wor statement.
